Christmas is a special day in the NBA, so The Truth and The Ticket couldn’t pass up the opportunity to drop a special episode of KG Certified.
In this episode, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett talk about the rise of the Brooklyn Nets, the improvement of the New York Knicks and which New York team they’d rather pay to see.
“I’m going to a Brooklyn game. I’m going to check out Kyrie and KD,” Paul said. “I’m going to a Brooklyn game if they’re playing the same night.”
Ticket and Truth then looked ahead to the Christmas Day slate, shared Christmas stories and Paul admitted that thought Christmas games were special, he didn’t eagerly anticipate playing in them.
“As much as you want to say “everybody’s watching” and we look forward to these games, I never really looked forward to the Christmas game. I probably had some of my worst games on Christmas because my mind is thinking family and charity and all these other things and I’m just in a real relaxed state of mind. I just never really got into the whole playing on Christmas. I felt like it took away from your family. I know it’s a big deal, but if you look at my numbers on Christmas, I definitely had a pot of gumbo before I even stepped on the court…I was off.”
Watch the duo break down the 2022 Christmas Day slate, talk about their Christmas shoes and other challenges of playing holiday afternoon games, stories from the locker room on Christmas, and give us perhaps the greatest teammate gift-giving story ever below.
