Steve Kerr has not been a head coach for a particularly long time, but he is rapidly rising in the ranks of the game’s all-time great coaches. Admittedly, he inherited a roster loaded with talent, and during his tenure he has seen the additions of Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins to a championship team.

However, Kerr deserves credit for implementing a system and creating a culture that has produced one of the most dominant runs in professional sports history. Even without Durant and Cousins this postseason, the Warriors haven’t skipped a beat. Sure, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have played some spectacular basketball, but Kerr deserves plenty of credit as well.

In fact, Paul Pierce believes Kerr should be considered in the top five coaches of all-time already, and he still has plenty of room to continue rising up that list. If the Warriors reach the Finals again, which appears likely, Kerr will have made the NBA Finals in each of his first five seasons as a head coach.

“I think Steve Kerr right now is one of the top-five coaches of all-time,” Pierce said.
