Tony Parker signed with the Charlotte Hornets in free agency this summer, leaving behind the only franchise he has ever known, the San Antonio Spurs. Parker recently said that the Spurs offered the same amount of money as Charlotte, but that he left because he wanted to play a bigger role than what San Antonio could give him.

Now, he will likely finish his career playing for Michael Jordan, who is his idol and the reason he started playing basketball in the first place. Many Spurs fans wished the organization had kept Parker, a longtime fan-favorite, but Paul believes it was time for the franchise to move on.

“He still feels like he has something left in the tank. Going to play in Michael Jordan’s organization, a guy he looked up to,” Pierce said. “He will always be remembered as a San Antonio legend. He will always be able to go back. There is no bad blood between him and Popovich. He just knows where he’s at in his career, and he wants to play and not coach.”
