Lonzo Ball was drafted with the second-overall pick in 2017 to be the new face of the Los Angeles Lakers, but things have changed since LeBron James signed with the team in free agency.

Now the Lakers are looking to win now, with several veteran additions to complement James including Rajon Rondo. Both Ball and Rondo have arguments to be the team’s starter. Rondo is a savvy veteran presence who has won at the highest level while Ball is young and eager to prove himself in the NBA with plenty of room left to develop.

Paul won a championship with Rondo in Boston, and he thinks his former teammate should get the nod, at least for now.

“(Ball) can learn a lot from Rondo as a starter (about) the approach to the game,” Pierce said. “Lonzo doesn’t understand winning in the NBA yet — the approach you have to take each and every night, how you have to be — and he can learn that from Rondo.”
