Russell Westbrook recently underwent a procedure on his knee and will likely miss training camp and possibly some of the preseason and early regular season.

While Westbrook’s injury doesn’t appear to be too serious, Paul Pierce thinks there may be chemistry issues that result from him potentially missing a crucial time in their season.

“I think there will be chemistry issues,” Pierce said on The Jump Thursday. “When you’re a guy who’s the star, who’s the focal point of the offense, who’s out, all of training camp — maybe the first week of the season possibly — now you implement Paul George as the number one option. They’re going to surround everything around Paul George in training camp for him to be the guy. Now, when Westbrook comes back, (George) is no longer the guy, so now you have to change everything you do in how you run your offense.”
