If there is just one name synonymous with 90s basketball, it is: Michael Jeffrey Jordan.
The man who inspired ESPN’s 10-part documentary “The Last Stand” was notably absent from the first webisode of NBA on ESPN’s I Love 90s Basketball, They made up for that in a big way, as episode two was all about MJ.
The crew, however, went a little more obscure. There was no “last shot” or “jumper over Ehlo.”
Instead the highlights include: MJ’s game-winner against the Jazz in 1990, dropping a playoff record 69 points in an OT win over the Cavs, and MJ’s first Finals moment, the “spectacular” layup against the Lakers in 1991. It’s that one that stood out to a young Paul Pierce, growing up in LA as a Lakers fan.
“Can’t nobody duplicate that one,” Paul said. “Me being a Lakers fan, you thought Magic had one more [title] in him, but then Mike was just too much. He was not going to let that go. After that Game 1, it was like “it’s all his.”
