On Tuesday, The Jump crew discussed if they would take the Raptors or the field to win the Eastern Conference this year. Paul Pierce said he wouldn’t count out the Celtics because of their elite level talent.
“The Raptors are the best team in the league record wise, but I’m going to have to take the field on this one,” Pierce said. “You still have Philly who got better with Jimmy Butler, you still got the Celtics. I’m not counting the Celtics out.”
Pierce thinks there is too much talent in the East to declare the Raptors champions yet. The Celtics, 76ers, Raptors and Bucks all could pose a threat in the postseason.
“It’s not that I’m not sold [on the Raptors],” Pierce said. “It’s just that the Eastern Conference has three or four teams at the top and they still have to show me that they are that team.”
