Markelle Fultz, last year’s No. 1 overall pick, played in only 14 games last season after a nagging shoulder injury sidelined him for much of the season, causing him to lose confidence in his jumpshot.
However, a full offseason of training seems to have helped Fultz as he has looked like the prospect out of Washington that impressed scouts before the 2017 NBA Draft. It is just preseason, but Pierce thinks his shot will return to form as he regains his confidence.
“There’s no pressure in the preseason,” Pierce said. “Once the regular season comes and you’re playing against other starters full-time for 20-30-plus minutes, then we’ll have a chance to see. But it’s good to see him get that going right now.”
