Devin Booker underwent surgery to repair an injury to his right hand, and now the young Suns star faces a six-week recovery leading into the 2018-19 season. He could miss training camp and even the start of the regular season.

He signed a max-contract extension in July and is expected to be a focal point of a turnaround in Phoenix alongside Deandre Ayton, so Paul joined The Jump with Rachel Nichols and Jorge Sedano to discuss the level of concern there should be about this surgery to their star shooter’s shooting hand. Paul doesn’t think the injury is too serious, but he does find the timing of the surgery to be interesting after signing his new contract and with training camp approaching.

“This is a young guy. This is a classic example of a (veteran) move,” Pierce said. “Wait until you get the signature on the money, then you have the surgery.”
